Trial Pack for China
Today Dustin and I did our trial pack for China. We want to avoid having to ship any of our belongings over to Shanghai, so we spent today making sure everything fits into our allotted suitcases and carry-ons. Dustin leaves on January 6th to make a trip to China, and he will take with him some of our stuff during that trip. We have bought a scale through Cabellas to weigh our suitcases, and have bought dufflebag suitcases that are tough, but light weight and also have wheels. We were extremely pleased that completely stuffed with all our clothes, the heaviest bag only weighed in at 40lbs. I am also happy to say that I was able to get all my stuff into one bag. We are obviously not taking all of our belongings with us. We will leave almost everything behind and purchase items when we get to China. (The apartment is furnished, so we do not have to worry about furniture). This makes packing a little easier, but also stressful to figure out what we need, what we feel we need, and what will stay behind. Dustin is going to make a extensive trip to Toys R Us in Shanghai to make sure we can get toys that are familiar to the boys. We want this transition to be as smooth for them as possible for them. We are quite excited that our plan seems to be working that we will not need to ship any items over to Shanghai. We feel that the time is drawing closer and knowing our items will make it to Shanghai is a huge relief to both Dustin and I.

Getting Ready for the Move
As 2008 draws to a close, our family is anxiously awaiting our move to Shanghai, China at the end of February 2009. We will be making this move in connection with my husband, Dustin's work and are excited about the adventure that awaits us in this amazing country. We will be living in Shanghai, China for the next 18 months and possibily China for the next 5 years. We invite you to follow along on our journey.
